Not quite rap, not quite soul, and not quite funk, UK import Just Jack’s sound is a fantastic blend of each. It is the kind of pop dream that might happen if fellow British acts The Streets, Craig David, and Jamiroquai had a sonic lovechild.
When contrasting the laid-back spoken vocals against a more up-tempo beat, Just Jack is a brilliant pop romp. When the music drags down to match the easy flow, as on horn-infused snoozer “Lost”, it becomes lullaby fodder.
